Welcome to North East Wales

Welcome to North East Wales
North East Wales is one of the most beautiful and exciting parts of Wales. Combining spectacular scenery with a rich tradition of cultural, educational and industrial innovation, the three North East Wales counties of Wrexham, Denbighshire and Flintshire are illustrative of the development of Wales over the past 800 years.

It is an area that has produced its fair share of famous people from Rhys Ifans to Michael Owen,  as well as explorer Henry Morton Stanley and military hero Owain Glyndŵr.

Welcome to NE Wales 2
Its sportsmen and women, scientists and industrialists have all made lasting contributions to our society.

North East Wales was one of the cradles of the industrial revolution. Drawing on its coal and other mineral reserves the region soon became a major manufacturing centre. Steel from the massive Brymbo Steel Works found its way across the globe in many different forms.

Indeed, its industrial strengths remain an integral part of the community with the Airbus UK factory at Broughton producing the wings for the famous A380.

Take a look at our virtual tour of some of the many attractions the region has to offer, as well as key parts of Glyndŵr University.
