Welcome to the Second Language Learning Centre

The Second Language Learning Centre was established at the University in 2007. Dr. Leila Luukko-Vinchenzo is the Head of the Centre, which has developed and expanded significantly since its foundation. In its first year the Centre catered for approximately 700 students and by 2010/11 that number had doubled. The tuition is carried out by a growing number of highly qualified and experienced lecturers, and the centre can be contacted by emailing languages.foreign@glyndwr.ac.uk

The Second Language Learning Centre is proud to serve Glyndŵr University students and staff, the general public as well as corporate and commercial clients in and around Wrexham, North East Wales and beyond. In fact its English language programmes attract participants from across the world!

In its efforts to boost the learning of foreign languages, the Centre joined Routes into Languages Cymru, a HEFCW funded initiative with the aim to offer higher education support to schools in raising the uptake of foreign languages in education. The Centre also participates in a variety of events to raise awareness of learning languages.

A few places are still available on our Chinese (Mandarin), German and Spanish courses starting w/c 6 February 2012. More information about these courses can be found at our foreign languages website here.
