Overview of the DSA process

A Step by Step Guide:

  1. Complete DSA application form and send to your funding body with a copy of medical/diagnostic evidence of disability
  2. Receive confirmation from your funding body to contact an assessment centre to arrange an assessment of need
  3. Contact Glyndŵr University Assessment Centre to arrange appointment for assessment of need. We aim to provide an appointment for you within 15 working days
  4. Send any documentation required by the assessment centre to us prior to the appointment
  5. Attend assessment appointment
  6. Receive assessment of need report. We aim to provide this within 10 working days
  7. Agree to the recommendations in the assessment of need report. We will then send a copy to your funding body and disability adviser at your college or university (if you request us to do so)
  8. Your funding body will consider the recommendations in the report and will let you know the outcome
  9. Receive any agreed equipment such as assistive software and hardware and take up any recommended training
  10. Talk to your disability adviser at your university to ensure all recommended support is put in place for you
