Legislation concerning health and safety is becoming increasingly important as industry recognises the tremendous impact of these issues and their importance in the workplace. These courses examine ways to manage risk effectively and offer a broad understanding of health and safety issues.

Course content
BSc (Hons) Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management
The course fully covers the areas of law, communication, science, management and psychology as it relates to health and safety. Topics covered include health and safety management, legislation, occupational psychology, project management, fire safety, hygiene and health and risk management. Option modules for you to choose from include environmental management, construction health and safety and integrated management systems.
BSc (Hons) Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management modules
Assessment
There are a range of assessment methods used including written assignments, professional portfolios, written and practical examinations. A dissertation forms the final part of the assessment for the honours degree.

You will be required to have obtained one of the following qualifications: General Health and Safety Management; NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health; Construction Health and Safety Management; NEBOSH National Construction Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. FdSc Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management
Areas covered during this course include health and safety law, materials science, health and safety management, hazardous agents at work and the communication of health and safety. You will also look into occupational psychology, fire safety, construction site safety, quality and environmental management and occupational hygiene.
