The aims of the Children and Young People’s University Cymru

For students

  • To build on and enrich what they already know, understand and can do, as well as offering them new areas to explore.
  • To provide them with a wide range of individual and shared learning opportunities.
  • To provide opportunities for them to have fun and enjoyment.
  • To help them improve their own performance at school.
  • To encourage individuals to participate in community based activities.

For parents/guardians

  • To develop further opportunities for their children to learn outside normal teaching hours.
  • To provide high quality programmes and keep them under review.
  • To share and celebrate their children's achievements with them.

For educational and non-educational establishments

  • To broaden curriculum opportunities.
  • To help their students become even more confident learners.
  • To encourage the active involvement of the community in students' learning.
  • To recognise community based activities for children.

For tutors

  • To add value to what tutors already do.
  • To enhance their Continued Professional Development.
  • To provide the opportunity to research new ideas and methodologies.
  • To receive wider recognition for their time and commitment.

Future employers

  • The Children and Young People’s University Cymru helps develop flexible, receptive and enthusiastic learners with a positive attitude.

The aims can be achieved by organising a range of modules which take place outside normal teaching hours, as in the model operating in Wrexham.
