Education research

Within Education, research and scholarly activity are promoted, organised and monitored by the Centre for Pedagogical Research and Scholarship, whose research team comprises experienced researchers from a range of educational disciplines.

Centre for Pedagogical Research and Scholarship

A broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including  research degrees (MPhil and PhD), is offered within Education. At every level, the importance which staff in Education attach to developing and practising research methodology skills is emphasised.

For example, final-year undergraduate students complete a research article, while MA students undertake a range of research-based assignments, culminating in the writing of a dissertation of between 16000-20000 words.

Staff within Education undertake a variety of research projects, including those leading to publication.

Opportunities exist within Education to undertake a research degree (MPhil or PhD), either by full-time or part-time study.

Current doctoral research projects supervised by staff in Education:

  • Promoting initial and continuing professional development.
  • Connexions and its impact on the philosophy, culture and management of the youth services.
  • The Children’s University: a critical evaluation of its role, outcomes and effectiveness in the education of children in Wrexham.
  • Promoting the ethnically diverse classroom: a case study.
  • Perceptions of children’s enjoyment of early years education.
  • The development of the workforce for children and families: a critical evaluation of the implementation of Welsh policy.

Glyndŵr University's Research Repository provides free access to the research outputs of the academic and research staff of the University.
